Validation and application of the lattice Boltzmann algorithm for a turbulent immiscible Rayleigh–Taylor system

We develop a multicomponent lattice Boltzmann (LB) model for the 2D Rayleigh--Taylor turbulence with Shan-Chen pseudopotential implemented on GPUs. In immiscible case this method is able to accurately overcome inherent numerical complexity caused by complicated structure of interface that appears in fully developed turbulent regime. Accuracy LB tested both early and late stages instability. For motion we analyze balance between different terms describing variations kinetic potential energies. Then, role energy balance, also effects vorticity induced dissipation. Statistical properties are compared miscible flows. Our results can be considered as first validation step extend application 3D Rayleigh-Taylor turbulence.
